Registration Open for the 18th Annual Great Lakes International Cider and Perry Competition (GLINTCAP)

Grand Rapids, MI – January 31, 2024 – The Great Lakes International Cider and Perry Competition (GLINTCAP) proudly announces the opening of registration for its 18th annual event, set to take place from May 15 to May 17, 2024, in Grand Rapids, MI. Hosted by the Michigan Cider Association (MCA), GLINTCAP stands as the world’s largest cider competition, dedicated to elevating the standard of cider through rigorous judging and invaluable feedback.

With a steadfast commitment to advancing the cider industry, GLINTCAP offers participants an unparalleled opportunity to showcase their craft and receive constructive criticism from some of the most seasoned experts in the field. This year, there are exciting improvements to the event, including a new digitized scoring system, so cidermakers can expect to receive feedback from the judges faster than ever, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the evaluation process. Entrants can anticipate feedback tailored to elevate their craft, alongside the chance to vie for prestigious medals and trophies.

Each year, GLINTCAP draws in over 1,400 entries from commercial and noncommercial producers worldwide, reflecting the global reach and significance of the competition. By fostering an environment of excellence and camaraderie, GLINTCAP continues to drive innovation and excellence within the cider community. “GLINTCAP is not merely a competition; it’s a celebration of craftsmanship and a testament to the passion that fuels the cider industry,” remarked Paul Vander Heide, owner of Vander Mill and President of the Michigan Cider Association.

Applications are now being accepted for volunteers with seasoned industry experience to judge entries and from cider enthusiasts to assist with stewarding the competition. Volunteering is a unique opportunity to gain deeper insight into the world of cider, contribute to the success of the competition, and grow meaningful relationships within the industry.

GLINTCAP coincides with the MCA’s much-anticipated Cider Week Grand Rapids (May 10 – 18, 2024), presented in partnership with Experience Grand Rapids. This convergence promises an unparalleled experience for cider enthusiasts, making it an unmissable opportunity to indulge in the finest ciders amidst a vibrant celebration of all things cider. “We are thrilled to welcome cidermakers from around the globe to Grand Rapids for what promises to be another unforgettable event,” shared Paula Englin, Executive Director of the Michigan Cider Association.
