Specialty Cider and Perry

Specialty Cider and Perry is an open-ended category for cider or perry with added ingredients or special processes that do not fit an existing category. A cider or perry that combines elements of two or more categories, or possibly none, is best entered in this category.

High-scoring entries balance the flavors and aromas of the base apple character alongside the profile of the adjuncts/processes. The entry should present as a beverage that is unmistakably a cider (i.e. as opposed to a wine, malt, or spirit-based beverage).

Entrants must list all ingredients added to the cider or perry (fruits, hops, spices, etc.) and describe any special production methods in the Additional Information section.

This category is divided into two awards based on sweetness level: dry and sweet.

Common Appearance: Clear to brilliant. May be impacted by adjuncts/processes.

Common ABV Range: 5-12%
